Updates.... We had a busy week this week.

On Monday, We went to see Dr. Sammer (Plastic Surgeon) about David's thumb. He has a weak ligament to his right thumb that will need an operation in January but maybe in December. Dr. Sammer will have to go in and take tissue and add to his ligament to make it stronger. David will be in the hospital overnight for recovery. He will wear a splint that will go up to his elbow (for 2 weeks), and then a cast for 4 weeks. This will be the last of the four surgery he will go thru.

On Tuesday, Home Health came out for his routine checkup. David weight was 7lbs 1 0z. He is starting to sleep thru the night 3 hours at a time.

On Wednesday, We went to see Dr. Saito (his general surgeon) She will be giving him a new butt in November. At this appointment Dr. saitio check his stoma and said everything is looking good. The infection has clear up and is very impress with Brooke and his colostomy changes. He will have a colostmgram done in August (where they take dye and look to make sure everything is looking good for his operation) and his next appointment with her is Aug. 5th. David Went to bed around 9pm and did not wake up til 3AM. He slept 6 hours straight. Then he woke up every 3 hours after that.

On Thursday, Home Health came out and weight him again he is now 7lbs 3 oz and is 21 inches long. Brooke called David's peds Dr. His next appointment is Monday at 320. Keith goes back to work on Monday on second shift. 230 til 11 pm. Brooke got a new haircut this weekend too. That's all for now. We will post again soon.

This past weekend Brooke's Aunt Carolyn, Cousin Sarah and Grandma came to visit David. We had so much fun. We went to see the Clydales at Grant's Farm in st. Louis and got stuck in a really bad storm. Brooke was on a bridge when the power went out on the bridge follow by a crack of thunder. Scared Brooke to death luckily David slept right thru it.

Oh the Home Health Nurse came by and David weighs 6lbs 11 oz. On Tuesday he weighed 6lbs 8oz. So he has gain some weight quickly in a few days.

Back to the hospital for an over night stay !!!!!!

We went to David check up yesterday morning with Dr. Savath. David is now 6lbs 6 oz and is 20 inch long. We were told to call David's surgery doctor and to have his stoma look at. Dr. Savath was worry that it might be infected. (and it was) So we call Dr. Saito's office and got him in to get his stoma look at. David had the beginnings of an infection that we caught in the nic of time. One of his stitches was coming up out of his skin (like a blackhead) and need to be pop. Dr. Saito then told us that we needed to stay over night to treat the infection with antibiotics thru and IV. Well that didn't go as plan. They had 4 nurses come in and stuck him in both feet, hands and arms twice (that's 4 times in his hands and arms) and in the head twice (Brooke and Keith could not stay and watch that). They never got an IV in so they decided to give him oral antibiotics. Poor little David went thru hell and back yesterday. This morning the nurse practitioner told us that it looks good now and we can goo home.

On a side note ...... Brooke did not held things well yesterday (we blame her hormones) Every time David cry and was pitching a fit with the nurse Brooke cried and it made Keith get worry and upset too. It was a long night at Children's Brooke or Keith did not sleep at all we were up all night long.

I want to thank Rugie, Jim and one of the guys from the ows for watching the dogs for us last night. It was a big help !!!

We will post again later

Tummy Time !!!!!

His stoma it started to bleed right after we took this picture. We think if you look to the right of it, that it is swelling on the side of it (it feel like its inside of his belly).

Tummy time !!!

Wasn't happy about tummy time.

Getting ready to roll himself over.

His July 4th outfit Nana got him

Today we had tummy time on the floor. David is starting to turn himself over and hold his head up for a few seconds at a time. We are so proud of him. He is doing so well until we get to his colostomy. That is where we have problems. Brooke is the one that changes it. Keith hasn't been able to master it yet. When he screams at the top of his lungs it breaks Brooke's heart and she get upset afterwards. Instead of having his surgery in November we are going to see about September. I don't think Brooke can take it much longer with all the screaming she get really really sad afterwards. We have a doctors appt. tomorrow with Dr. Savath @ 8 AM. We will post later that day.

Mad at Mom and Dad for giving him a bath

So much fun (diaper is coming off to clean his butt)
Cleaning his little legs
Bath time is so much fun
Not sure whats going on
You need to fix me mom
Still not liking the tub thing
Getting ready to go in
Today we gave David his first bath. He was not to happy about it. We left his diaper on until time to clean his butt, bc we cant get his little colostmy wet. So that is why there are pictures of him in his diaper in the tub. After taking a bath he pass out so we now know to give him a bath a night before bed. Thats all the updates for now. Tomorrow we are having a cookout for the forth of July. We will post later that night.
